A Vision From God

Have you heard of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in the book of Genesis? Let me give you a cliff notes version before getting into it.
Sodom and Gomorrah were cities in the Bible known for their treacherous evil and sin they committed. They were the worst of the worst, put kindly, and God was getting ready to destroy them. Before doing so, He sent an angel to retrieve Lot, who is Abraham's nephew, and his family. The angel told Lot they needed to leave right now, as God's wrath was about to take the city. Side note: because Lot was related to Abraham and took part in his inheritance, God chose to save him. He loves to keep His promises!
As they were leaving the city, the angel told Lot and his family not to look back, for if you do, you will turn to a pillar of salt. Another side note: Lot's wife did not want to leave, she very much wanted to stay in the city even after being told what would happen. So, what does Lot's wife do? She looks back. She disobeyed and looked back, turning her to a pillar of salt. She chose to look back to what she had and what she was leaving behind rather than looking forward to the blessing and greatness God had for her.
Now, during my time of rest and in the beginning of my journey of obedience with God, He was working on healing parts of me I didn't even know needed healing. There was one week I was really fighting off the enemy and contemplating doing exactly what God told me not to do. The chokehold the enemy had on me was debilitating. I was looking at the "good" of my old life and considering going back. God then laid a vision on me and it was clear as day: He put the image of me being dragged out of my Sodom & Gomorrah ( my old life and my old ways) by the hand of Jesus. He was telling me not to look back, or I too will become a pillar of salt; I needed to keep my eyes fixed on Him.
When God calls us to something, our first instinct is fear. Since we are born, we learn of this world and it's ways and it's what we are used to. It's all we know. But there is another world, and that is the Kingdom of God. He loves us so much, and puts a purpose and a calling on our lives that is greater than we can even fathom. When the fear starts to settle in, we begin to doubt what God is doing in our lives; what He is bringing us out of and what He is bringing us to. God wants to give us the life He has for us; all the greatness, abundance and prosperity. We have to be willing to surrender to Him, to allow Him in, and to allow our faith in Him be greater than the fear that is holding us back.
I knew after that vision that if I looked back, if I decided to go back to my old life, not only would I turn to a pillar of salt, but it would be my spiritual death. I have found new life, eternal life, through God, and if I chose to give that up, I chose to become of this world and I would turn my face from Him. I would choose the lord of this world, the enemy, and frankly that scared me more than pushing forward on this journey with God. I choose my Savior every time, without fail. I have surrendered my life to Him. When I fully committed to my purpose and my calling, God started moving in my life in ways I would have never expected. I am greatly blessed every day and so on fire for the Lord.
Now this is my story, but I would bet my life God has called you to a greater purpose as well. His grace and love is in abundance and He wants to share it with you. So the question is, if God is calling you and you feel that pull, what is your Sodom that you are struggling to leave behind? And if God is calling you, telling you not to look back, will you listen and answer your calling?
There is room in His kingdom. That's what Jesus came for. He wants to see all His children there, and that includes you. He loves you so much and wants to give you the treasures of heaven, as long as you seek Him. Don't become a pillar of salt in this world. Choose faith over fear.
With much love <3
